It wouldn’t be a Jeep without a selection of strong engines and the 2016 Grand Cherokee does not disappoint. The base engine is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 placing a respectable 295 horsepower at your disposal; that’s 5 up from last year’s model. Available as upgrades are a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 that brings the horsepower up to 360 and a 3.0-liter V-6 turbo diesel that generates 420 pound-feet, gets up to 30 miles per gallon and can tow up to 7,400 pounds. At the top of the lineup is the Grand Cherokee SRT with a 6.4-liter V-8 with 470 horsepower and a zero-to-sixty time of 4.8 seconds. All of these engines are matched with a quick and efficient 8-speed automatic transmission. The Hemi and SRT-equipped Grand Cherokees are all-wheel drive only, while the V-6 Grand Cherokees are available as both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive.

The Grand Cherokee line has always been known for being large and spacious, with plenty of space for both passengers and cargo. The 2016 Grand Cherokee offers 105.4 cubic feet of passenger space - enough for even those over 6 feet in height to feel comfortable - and 36.3 cubic feet of cargo space in its normal configuration. Fold the second row of seats flat using an intuitive lever, and that increases to 68.3 cubic feet - more than enough for any use most drivers want to put it to. And the interior is not just big; it is also luxuriously appointed. The stitched-leather dashboard, wood-grain accents and soft-touch materials make even the entry-level models look beautiful. The high-end Overland and Summit are even nicer, easily competing with luxury brand vehicles.

The 2016 Grand Cherokee is filled to the brim with convenience features and infotainment technology. Every single Grand Cherokee is equipped with a touch screen LCD display – 5.0 inches on the Laredo and the Limited and an impressive 8.4-inch version on the higher up models. Both come with Jeep’s Uconnect infotainment system that is quick and easy to use. From the Limited on up, you have a variety of technology and comfort upgrades available, including navigation, Harman Kardon audio, Blu-ray rear seat entertainment and active noise cancellation.

The 2016 Grand Cherokee has scored very well with both of the major safety testing agencies. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave it its best score – “Good” – on all but one of its crash tests. Similarly, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has given the 2016 Grand Cherokee a five out of five overall score, as well as maximum scores for both front and side crash tests. The Grand Cherokee also has some of the newest safety technology available, including blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, back up camera and radar cruise control with a forward collision warning and automatic braking, making it a very safe vehicle.

The 2016 Grand Cherokee is the latest in the line of excellent cars bearing that name. It has everything one wants from a mid-size SUV: plenty of powerful engines, a comfortable and luxurious interior, advanced technology features and reliable safety. So come by our dealership and check it this exciting truck for yourself!
